This year’s official Xchanging Boat Race Dinner will be held at the prestigious Merchant Taylor’s Hall in the City of London on Thursday 17 March – just nine days before the 157th Race involving crews from Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

The event will be attended by both Blue Boat crews, together with the Chief Coaches, representatives from the media, the sponsor and official partners, plus other friends of the annual Race that ranks among the top four televised sporting events in the UK and attracts a global audience across 200 countries.

Martin Bayfield, the former Lions & England rugby international, will act as MC on the night and interview both club Presidents and coaches during the dinner, which will take place in the Great Hall of the famous building in Threadneedle Street that dates back to 1347 – some 482 years before the first Boat Race at Henley in 1829.

“The inaugural Boat Race dinner last year was a great success and we envisage even more interest this year with the special auction items and Race memorabilia on offer,” said David Searle, Executive Director of The Boat Race Company Ltd, organisers of the Race.

Premier tables for 10 guests in the company of a crew member cost £1,600 + VAT; a standard table for 10 guests costs £1,200 + VAT; while individual places are available at £130 each + VAT. Proceeds from the evening will go to the official Race charities – London Youth Rowing and Help for Heroes.

The 157th Xchanging Boat Race will start at 5pm on Saturday 26 March from Putney to Mortlake. There will be live coverage on BBC1 for UK viewers.

Cambridge currently lead the series, which began in 1829, by 80 victories to Oxford's 75. Cambridge won the 2010 Race in an epic battle, confounding the bookies to come from behind a highly fancied Oxford crew to win by just over a length.
