Cambridge graduate, Andrew Wellum-Kent, won the Queen's Medal at the most recent Sovereign's Parade at Sandhurst.

The Queen’s Medal is awarded to the Officer Cadet who gains the highest score in military, practical and academic subjects on the Regular Commissioning Course. It was presented by the Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Andy, 23, was born in Truro and brought up in Norfolk and Hampshire.

He went to school at the Hobart High School, Loddon and the East Norfolk Sixth Form College before going up to Emmanuel College, Cambridge where he was not only in the rowing first VIII and Secretary of Emmanuel Boat Club, but he also gained a double first in History.

 

Whilst at Sandhurst, Andy was the highest-placed Academy finisher on the ‘Chevy Chase’, a 20 mile fell race in Northumberland and he stroked the RMAS VIII to the Academy’s highest-placed finish at the Head of the River Race.

He has commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (RRF).
