For the first time, it is possible to stream or download a series of Cambridge Science Festival podcasts. Presented by Carol Vorderman, the five- to eight-minute podcasts offer a taste of the many fun and educational events taking place at and near the University through 25 March.

The podcasts, which were produced by the University's Communications Services, include:

  • It's a Gas — Pete Wothers, How everyday gasses are essential to release energy
  • Dinosaur Detective — Matt Wilkinson, The launching of a perfect replica of a pterosaur dinosaur wing
  • In the Blink of an Eye — Helen Czerski, What the human eye can't see
  • The Naked Scientist — Popular scientist Dr Chris Smith presents a radio programme on parasites and ultraviolet Led's for clean water
  • The Garage Laboratory — Dave Ansell, popular science from your garage
  • RE:Design — A play by Craig Baxter based on Darwin's Correspondence

Now in its 14th year, Cambridge Science Festival is the UK's largest free, fun science event, last year attracting more than 25,000 people. The Festival gives families and adults the opportunity to get a taste for the excitement of science across the University – from astronomy to zoology. This year's Festival encompasses more than 100 events across 40 departments and five sites and follows a theme of ‘The Big and the Small'.
