Adult learners thinking about applying for 2005 entry to one of Cambridge's four 'mature' undergraduate Colleges are today attending a free information day to help them decide.
The event is specifically for students now on one-year A-level or Access to Higher Education courses and who will be 21 or over when they start university. It has been organised by the Cambridge Admissions Office and is taking place at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge - one of the four Cambridge Colleges that only accept applications from mature students.
Although the main closing date for applications for 2005 entry to Cambridge has passed, the 'mature' Colleges - Hughes Hall, Lucy Cavendish (women only), St Edmund's and Wolfson - continue to accept applications for places on all courses except Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Architecture until November 22 from adult learners on one-year A-level or Access to HE courses.
Today's session offers prospective mature applicants the chance to visit a College, learn about the Cambridge applications and admissions process, find out more about courses and life as a Cambridge undergraduate and discuss their options with Cambridge admissions tutors. They can also chat to mature undergraduates studying at Cambridge.
Cambridge Admissions Office FE Access Officer Sarah Barnsley, who has organised the event, said:
"Cambridge welcomes applications from adult learners and we recognise that students who have just started one-year A-level or Access courses may need a bit more time and information before deciding about university. This information day is a great chance for them to find out more about Cambridge. They can also contact the Cambridge Admissions Office any time, or the admissions office of the College to which they're applying, for advice."
