Ensemble Klang, who have been described as ‘one of the most exciting young ensembles on the Dutch contemporary music scene’ will be kicking off the 2009 New Music series at Kettle’s Yard this weekend.

The group, span the boundaries between contemporary classical music and pop. They work with composers throughout the creative process which results in music being written that fits the individuals in the band.

They have just returned from a successful week of performances with the Eliza Miller Dance Company in New York and were described at a recent gig in Glasgow as ‘slick and convincing, delivering an impressive aural assault’ by the Scottish Herald.

The 2009 New Music series will be focusing on electronic and acoustic music by living composers. It has been devised by the Camberwell Composers’ Collective who are the Kettle’s Yard / Faculty of Music, New Music Associates 2008-09.

“We are thrilled to have Ensemble Klang performing at Kettle’s Yard. I hope audiences will also enjoy the chance to have a cup of coffee in the gallery beforehand” Lara Gisborne, Music Administrator at Kettle’s Yard said.

Kettle’s Yard is a house with a permanent collection of modern art; the concerts will be taking place amongst the collection. Next door to the house is an art gallery with a changing range of modern and contemporary exhibitions.

This first performance by Ensemble Klang is taking place this Sunday 1 February at 12am. Tickets cost £6 (£4 concessions) and are available online from wwwadcticketing.com or from 01223 300085.
