Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa creator of THE 99, will be giving a public lecture tonight (November 30th) entitled THE 99: Building Islam-inspired popular culture icons into a global brand.

THE 99 are the first group of superheroes inspired by Islamic culture and history. The character names being taken from the 99 attributes of Allah. The series promotes universal themes of tolerance, teamwork and appreciation of diversity.

Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa will share his entrepreneurial journey with THE 99 from idea, to comic book series in 8 languages and counting, to a theme park that has opened its doors in Kuwait, to a global animation series coproduced by media giant Endemol.

The event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be provided after the lecture, with an opportunity to meet Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa.

The lecture will be given in the McCrum Lecture Theatre, Corpus Christi College, at 5pm on Monday, 30th November, entrance through the yard of the “Eagle”, Bene’t Street
