Free sports taster sessions for all university and college staff are to be offered as part of the celebrations for the University’s 800th Anniversary.

The University’s Physical Education Department have organised a series of free taster sessions for all members of which include Cricket, Handball, Judo, Real Tennis and Korfball

The events run from June 22 -27 with no previous experience required. One of the sessions is a fencing taster session with Team GB’s Alex O’Connell the current captain of the Fencing Club for Churchill College and a competitor at the Beijing Olympics 2008.

To conclude the week long taster sessions, a family fun day has been organised from 11am-2pm at Wilberforce Rd Athletics Ground on June 27.

The fun day will provide activities aimed at family groups and will be particularly suitable for children of primary/secondary school age. There will be lots of free entertainment for the whole family including taster sessions of shot put, javelin, croquet, golf and 100m sprint.

Light refreshments and Ice creams will be available from the pavilion at Wilberforce Rd Athletics Ground and families are welcome to bring a picnic lunch. Each session has limited places available so please book early to avoid disappointment.
