The Cambridge-MIT Institute has sponsored two new initiatives aimed at supporting and facilitating female enterprise in the science and technology sector.
Narrowing the gender gap in innovation is recognised as a key challenge facing the UK economy, so on 25th – 27th February, Lucy Cavendish College will host the first Mid-Career Education in Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Technology and Science course (MEETS).
Over the course of two three-day weekends, MEETS will provide mid-career women professionals from the science, engineering and technology sector with the bespoke training and support they require to take leadership roles in company innovation or start their own businesses. Between the course’s two weekends, delegates will have the opportunity to work with a local organisation on an innovation-related challenge, supervised by the Judge Institute of Management.
CMI has also joined forces with Cambridgeshire County Council, the East of England Development Agency, and Cambridge Enterprise to run “Opening Doors”, the UK’s first Women in Technology Conference on 11th March. Speaking at this one-day event will be some of the world’s most successful female entrepreneurs and business leaders, including representatives from the Women’s Technology Cluster (WTC) in San Francisco.
Professor Alison Richard, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge will be a guest speaker at the Conference Dinner.
