Potential mature students can find out more about applying to and studying at the University of Cambridge at a special open day on Saturday, 11 February.
The Mature Students’ Open Day runs from 10am and is being held at St John’s College, Cambridge. It has been organised specifically to meet the needs of adult learners and their tutors and advisers.
The day will include advice on choosing the right degree, the College system, information about financial support for mature students at Cambridge and the application and interview process. Participants will also hear from mature undergraduates currently at Cambridge, as well as having the opportunity to visit the four mature colleges in the afternoon. Lunch is provided free of charge.
Sue Long from the Cambridge Admissions Office said: “Not all our students come straight from school. There are options for students returning to education who would like to come to Cambridge. Anyone thinking about applying for courses starting in 2007 or beyond is welcome to come along to the open day.”
To book a place on the Mature Students’ Open Day, contact Sue Long in the Cambridge Admissions Office on stl24@cam.ac.uk or 01223 765728. The closing date is Tuesday, 31 January.
Mature students are welcome at all 29 undergraduate Cambridge Colleges and admissions tutors are happy to accept Access to Higher Education qualifications or other suitable alternatives to the traditional three A-levels.
The Mature Students' Open Day has been organised by the four 'mature' Cambridge Colleges - Hughes Hall, Lucy Cavendish College, St Edmund's College and Wolfson College - which only admit students aged 21 or over when they start their course.
Cambridge offers mature students financial support of up to £5,000 a year through the Cambridge Bursary Scheme; this is in addition to the government maintenance grant of up to £2,700 a year.
