Nobel-prize winning Professor Walter (Wally) Gilbert will exhibit a series of his colourful, large photographs, which stress form and texture, at Churchill College, between June 14 and June 25.

Wally is Carl M. Loeb University Professor Emeritus at Harvard University as well as an alumnus of Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Professor Gilbert won a Nobel Prize in 1980 for his landmark work in DNA gene sequencing.

He creates unique photographic images of fragments of scenes, working on a border between visual reality and the abstract, exploring pattern, colour, form and texture. Although he works with a small camera, the final pictures are large, up to 8 feet by 12 feet in size, drawing the viewer in.

The exhibition is taking place within the Jack Colville Hall, Churchill College from 9am to 5pm daily from June 14, and admission is free.
