Students at the Judge Business School now have the opportunity to study in India as part of their course.
A student exchange programme has been set up with the one of India’s leading educational institutions, the Indian School of Business (ISB) based in Hyderabad.
While Cambridge students can spend a term of their study at the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurial Development at the ISB, Indian business students will have a chance to enrol as full-time MBA students at the Judge for the same period.
The ISB fosters an entrepreneurial mind-set among its students and its Wadhwani Centre has set up a range of programmes which allow participants to be actively involved in up-and-coming business activities in India, particularly in the IT industry.
Similarly, those Indian students who opt to come to Cambridge will have the chance to get involved in emerging technology projects run by Microsoft Research, in addition to their seminars and lectures.
One tenth of all European venture capital is currently invested within a 25 mile radius of the University of Cambridge and the ‘Silicon Fen’, as it is known, provides a group of more than 1500 high tech start-up companies.
Professor Arnoud De Meyer, Director of the Judge Business School explained: “The environment these exchange students will find themselves immersed in is truly a technology entrepreneurship hotbed.”
Commenting on how delighted he was with the new programme, Professor Rammohan Rao, ISB’s Dean, added: “It will enrich both Schools’ students by exposing them to different economies as well as the cultural influences that impact business decisions in different environments.”
The international exchange programme was agreed in time to be announced at the Prime Minister of India’s recent visit to the University of Cambridge.
