In October 2002 St John's College Cambridge graduate Dan Miller was on a rugby tour in Bali, celebrating with team mates and friends in the Sari Club nightclub when the terrorist bombs exploded.

He and most of his team members were among the 202 who lost their lives in the attack.

Dan's wife of just five weeks, Polly Miller, survived the blast, but with 43% burns to her body which required extensive medical and psychological treatment.

This Saturday 9 September she returns to Cambridge as Chairman of the charity she has now set up, Dan's Fund For Burns, for a commemorative day of rugby at St John's College and The University Rugby Ground, Grange Road.

A Sevens tournament through the morning will feature 14 teams from Britain and around the world, many representing those lost in the bombings.

The Sevens Final will then be played at the University Rugby Ground followed by the highlight of the day, a full exhibition match between an International Legends XV, coached by popular England Star Matt Dawson, and an Oxbridge Legends XV featuring a host of veterans of previous Varsity Matches.

The tragedy is one which struck at the heart of the rugby community, demonstrated by the calibre of the players who have leant their support to the event.

The International Legends XV will include Jason Leonard, Flo Rossigneux, Scott Gibbs, Harvey Thorneycroft and Jon Sleightholme while the Oxbridge Legends will feature many of the greatest players to have competed in the Varsity Match in recent years.

The Sevens Tournament, competing for the ‘Forever On Tour’ Cup, runs from 10am to 2pm at St John’s College Playing Fields, Grange Road.

The Rugby Sevens Tournament Cup Final kicks off at 2.45pm at the University Rugby Ground on Grange Road, followed by the International Legends XV v Oxbridge Legends VX at 3.30pm.

Tickets will be available at the Ground priced £5 adults, £2 children.
