If you are looking for some ’‘eggstra' excitement for all the family over Easter, why not pay a visit to the University museums and Botanic Garden?
Here are just a few of the fun and creative events going on during the school holidays.
Botanic Garden:
Young explorers aged 12 and under are invited to find Easter prizes by solving riddles on a treasure trail through the Botanic Garden on Tuesday 3 or Wednesday 4 April.
All treasure hunters should bring a responsible adult with them and collect their map and Easter Passport from the Garden's Bateman Street entrance between 11am and 2.30pm.
The cost per passport, in which participants collect a stamp for every clue solved, is £2 and remember, admission to the Garden for children accompanied by adults is free.
For further visitor information you can call 01223 336265.
Museum of Zoology:
The Museum of Zoology at the New Museums Site, Downing Street, is also getting into the holiday spirit with a free ‘Fantastic Flight Trail,' where you can experience life size replicas of powerful birds of prey and even take on the Pterosaur colouring challenge.
The museum is open daily from 10am-4.45pm over Easter and closed on Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday.
Kettle's Yard:
If you fancy yourself as a junior sleuth, come along to Kettle's Yard to see how many treasures you can find in the old house with the ‘house detective,'or ‘drop in and draw,' at the gallery.
There is also a brand new, colourful Arturo Herrera exhibition on display in the gallery - Disney figures can be found emerging from multi-layered collages while another work is made purely out of cut felt.
And if you are aged between 8 and 12 and feeling creative, make sure you book your place as soon as possible on the Easter workshop by artist Laura Sellen on 11 April, based on the theme of celebrations and festivals around the house, where you can create your own spring garland.
The workshop is for 8-12 year olds and tickets cost £10 or £7 for concessions. To book your place call 01223 352124.
Entrance to the other events at Kettle's Yard is free. The house is open over Easter from Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 1.30 - 4.30pm, with the gallery open from 11.30am - 5.00pm.
