A top class audience including representatives from organisations such as Microsoft Research, the Institute of Directors, the UKIBC, Arts and Business East, East of England International, Cranfield University School of Management and the University of Cambridge gathered for an inspiring evening at Madingley Hall to celebrate the launch of Cambridge’s Advanced Diploma in Entrepreneurship* - an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to gain a recognised qualification.

Professor Ian Leslie, Pro-Vice Chancellor at the University of Cambridge, joined Dr Shai Vyakarnam, Director of Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), Prof Arnoud De Meyer, Director of Judge Business School and Sharon Collins, Director of Professional Studies, at this special networking event. The aim was to encourage guests to engage with and champion this new programme.

Dr Joanna Mills, Programme Director at CfEL, said: “We got an enthusiastic reaction at the event and I have already received numerous offers of support which is enormously encouraging. It is hugely important to us to have the backing of key institutions and businesses to develop the programme and allow as many as possible to benefit from this unique practical learning opportunity. Over 70 people have registered their interest in participating as students on the first programme in September to date.”

The programme has been developed in partnership with the University’s Division of Professional Studies, leaders in the development and delivery of online education.

Sharon Collins, Director of Professional Studies, said: “The blended format of this programme means that participants will be able to combine part-time study with their work and other commitments, wherever they are. They will be connected to their tutors and fellow students throughout the programme; the interactive and tutor-led online components will enable them to develop comprehensive understanding that will lay a solid foundation for the intensive residential sessions in Cambridge.”

A select group of experts have been invited to form a special Advisory Board and will act as ambassadors and advisors for the programme in order to enable development and expansion at global level.

Alan Barrell, CfEL Entrepreneur in Residence and member of the Advisory Board, commented, “This Diploma has the potential to attract hundreds of delegates from across the world, especially from regions such as China and India where a Cambridge qualification will be highly valued, and as a catalyst to invigorate enterprise in Cambridge and the UK.”

If you are interested in discussing opportunities to be involved in the programme either as an ambassador, contributor, sponsor or delegate, please contact Dr Mills at CfEL on 01223 766900.
