A new Fitzwilliam Museum shop selling Christmas cards and gifts is now open at 14 King's Parade (opposite King's College Chapel).

Until the New Year this shop will replace 33 Trumpington Street which is being re-furbished. The Shop in the Museum will continue to trade up to Christmas and between Christmas and New Year when the Museum is open.

The Fitzwilliam Museum Christmas & New Year opening hours:

  • Closed: 24 - 27 December
  • Open: 28 - 30 December 10:00 - 17:00
  • Closed: 31 December and 1 January 2005
  • Open on Sunday 2 January and Bank Holiday Monday 3 January 12:00 - 17:00
  • Normal opening hours will resume on Tuesday 4 January.

One of the museum’s current exhibitions is Lucian Freud - Etchings 1946-2004. This powerful touring exhibition gives museum visitors in the UK their first chance to see a comprehensive survey of Freud’s work as a printmaker, which is comparable in achievement to his painting.
