Professor Eamon Duffy from the Faculty of Divinity has published a book ‘Faith of Our Fathers’, which explores the relevance of ancient Christian belief to modern society.
Professor Duffy is a practising Roman Catholic with a distinguished academic career. His latest book focuses on the central question whether an individual can be a good Roman Catholic and maintain their intellectual integrity. Duffy believes people can do both.
He distils his pastoral wisdom and insights into this volume, aimed at the intelligent person who seeks to reconcile his historic Catholic faith with some of the major challenges to it found in our post-modern and largely post-Christian society.
Professor Duffy is also Fellow and Director of Studies at Magdalene College. His research interests focus on European and English religions including Iconography and history of medieval Christian art, popular religions in the Middle Ages, and reformation. He has written several books on the history of religion including ‘The Stripping of the Altars: Traditional Religion in England, 1400-1580’ and ‘Saints & Sinners: A history of the Popes’.
