An exhibition of photographs of Cambridge, in celebration of the University’s 800th anniversary, opens this Friday 11 September in the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest, Hungary.

The exhibition is being launched with the support of Britain’s Ambassador to Hungary, His Excellency Greg Dorey. The photographs were first displayed at the Ambassador’s residence earlier this year.

The exhibition, entitled “Wonderful Cambridge – 800 years of Cambridge University”, is the work of Judit Folly and her husband Bálint Bassola. The photographs were taken while Mr Bassola was carrying out research for his PhD in Competition Law at Corpus Christi College as the recipient of the Brooke Scholarship. This scholarship enables one Hungarian PhD candidate per year to further their studies at the college.

The exhibit consists of photographs of various Cambridge Colleges, including King’s Trinity, Clare and St John’s. There are also other classic shots of Cambridge, including pictures of the Backs and the Botanic Garden.

The exhibition opens on 11 September at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest. It runs until 17 September. Details can be obtained from Ms. Éva Salamon (e-mail: eva.salamon@eu-office-hu, tel.: 00-36-20-9430587)
