The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr Anwar Choudhury, will deliver the inaugural lecture in Cambridge University Bangladesh Society's speaker series on Monday, 13 June.

Mr Choudhury has created history as the first British High Commissioner from a minority ethnic background and the most senior Muslim in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Born in Bangladesh, he moved to Britain in 1970 and has had a very distinguished career, having served in industry, the Royal Air Force and the Ministry of Defence. Prior to joining the Foreign Office, he was a senior director in the Cabinet Office.

Mr Choudhury has often expressed his pride at representing a vibrant, modern, multicultural and multifaith Britain in the country of his birth.

His Cambridge lecture will be on 'Representing Modern Britain' and will take place at 6.30pm in the Latimer Room at Clare College, Cambridge. It is free and open to the general public.
