World renowned artist Anthony Green will be showing his prints and drawings at Clare Hall Gallery  in a free exhibition open to members of the public from today (4th December) until the 10th January 2010.

Anthony, who originally trained at the Slade School of Fine Art, is a contemporary realist painter and printmaker best known for his pieces based on memories, dreams and actual events from his own domestic life.

After receiving a scholarship grant from the French government he moved to Paris in 1960, returning to England in 1961 marrying his now wife Mary Cozens-Walker who features throughout much of his work.

He has completed a picture for each of their wedding anniversaries since 1973.

Returning to The Slade in 1964 to teach briefly, in 1967 Anthony received a Harkness Fellowship to the United States where he lived for two years in New Jersey and California.

The Royal Academy elected him as an Associate Member in 1971 and he went on to win the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition of the year in 1977.

Retrospective of his work at the Royal Academy, he was elected as a full member in 1978. He is now a Trustee.

He has had over 80 solo exhibitions across the world from Tokyo to Sydney, New York to Chicago.

Along with solo shows, his work can also be found in public and private collections at the Arts Council, British council, Tate Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and Metropolitan amongst others.

Now living and working in Cambridge, Anthony’s colourful and amazingly detailed work is popular amongst many.

The exhibition will be open daily from 9am to 6pm at Clare Hall Gallery, Herschel Road, Cambridge.
