A Leadership Masterclass from Number 10

Eric Hepburn’s responsibilities include the day-to-day running of Numbers 10 and 11 Downing Street, covering all areas of support activity, including ICT, Finance, Human Resources, Estates and Security.

His role ranges from the management of State visits to the maintenance of domestic appliances in the Prime Minister’s family accommodation – a role immersed in the day to day leadership issues of managing a diverse range of staff, with each day presenting unique issues.

Eric has held a number of senior positions in the Financial Services sector before taking up the role in 1992 of Director of Business Systems for the Securities & Futures Authority (financial regulator in City of London) where he spent five years, during which he also became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. Appointed International CIO for a global Loss Adjusting firm where he spent 4 years managing ICT for UK, Europe/Asia Pacific regions.

In 2002 he joined the Civil Service as Infrastructure Director with responsibility for Corporate IT, Estates; Facilities Management; Health & Safety; Business Continuity; the crosscutting sustainable development agenda; and Departmental Security Officer (DSO).

He will be speaking on “Reflections on Leadership in the Civil Service, the City and elsewhere.” .

The Leadership Masterclass series is offered to University employees attending leadership development courses via theCentre for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) and has included sessions on combating stress in leadership and thoughts on leadership of the serious organised crime agency.
